ADOLF HITLER’S RISE TO POWER

What do Adolf Hitler’s Rise to Power and Bush’s Rise to Power Have in Common?

In the past, the non profit group MoveOn was heavily criticized for and forced to withdraw an ad they created that compared Adolf Hitler’s rise to power with Bush’s rise to power.

However, according to experts on the Third Reich and some German politicians there are some striking similarities between the two.

After the controversial MoveOn ad was withdrawn from public view, a German politician who spoke up for the veracity of the ad was forced to withdraw from the government because of political and social pressure.

If you look at both Adolf Hitler’s rise to power and Bush’s rise to power you will notice that that there are several corresponding areas.

Certainly Bush’s rise to power and Adolf Hitler’s rise to power both suited the purposes of the elite and extremely wealthy families that have been accused of using political alliances, money, and influence behind the scenes of international politics to get what they want for years.

It might sound far fetched to the general public to think that this elite group could actually have the power and influence to start wars and even to start something as horrible as the Holocaust but it’s not outside the realm of possibility.

Bush’s rise to power, like Adolf Hitler’s rise to power, came suddenly and was not sanctioned by the people initially, even though later on the people seemed to support Bush the way that the German people supported Hitler after his rise to power.

In both cases, the leaders in question gained power not through a mandate from the masses but by deft political maneuvering and alliances with powerful politicians.

What are some of the similarities between Adolf Hitler’s rise to Power and Bush’s rise to power? Here are just a few for you to think about:

COMPARING BUSH AND HITLER

Both Hitler and Bush maintained their power and sought approval from the masses for their warmongering policies by inventing an enemy and orchestrating a terrible event that was sure to fuel hatred against that group and then blaming that group for the event.

For Hitler, the event was the Reichstag fire that he had a hand in creating and for Bush the event was the 9/11 attacks.

Some people believe that Bush’s administration coordinated and orchestrated the 9/11 attacks and some feel that the administration was just complicit for not taking the proper steps to stop the attack but either way there is plenty of evidence that Bush’s administration knew something was going to happen that day.

MORE SIMILARITIES BETWEEN THE TWO

Both Hitler’s rise to power and Bush’s rise to power were built on a nationalistic appeal to restore the “God-given” glory of the country.

Bush’s rhetoric was heavily steeped in religion to appeal to his Conservative base and Hitler’s rhetoric talked about how God had decreed that the Aryans were better than any other race.

Both Hitler and Bush used the cloak of protectionism to strip away the rights of citizens and allow government intrusion into every aspect of a citizen’s life.

Both stressed the idea that citizens needed to be willing to give up their rights for security and they kept the citizens off balance with constant treats of attacks that were imminent by outside forces in order to scare them into giving up their rights.

USING WAR AS A MEANS TO STIMULATE THE ECONOMY

Both Hitler and Bush also used war as a means to end an economic crisis.

With Adolf Hitler’s rise to power in Germany, there was a high unemployment rate and people were angry and frustrated.

When Hitler blamed the Jews for the Germans economic problems and promised he could provide jobs, stability and a healthy economy, the people supported him in droves.

Bush’s plan didn’t work out quite the same because his war in Iraq ended up costing the U.S. citizens billions upon billions of dollars, but it did stimulate the economy for his wealthy friends who have made record profits from the war in Iraq.
